What is the General Application? How do I fill it out?

The General Application is something that you MUST complete. Students who do not fully complete the General Application will not be eligible to apply for or receive scholarship funds. The General Applications is composed of four waiver questions. Answering the questions thoroughly maximizes the SnAP system’s ability to match your profile to appropriate scholarship opportunities.

To fill out the General Application, log in to the SnAP page using your UIC netid and associated password. After logging in, click the Applications tab in the upper-left corner of the web page to access the General Application. Next, begin filling in the information and questions provided by the General Application. You may save your General Application and complete it at a later time.

To maximize your scholarship consideration, be sure to take the following steps while completing your General Application:

  1. Review the “Applicant Record” tab to ensure all information is accurate. This includes information previously provided to UIC such as your address, transcripts, current UIC GPA, and other information imported from your student record. Should you find inaccurate information, please contact the appropriate office for corrections or updates to your applicant record.
    1. If you’re newly enrolling for the fall and haven’t begun taking classes yet, please keep in mind that the Applicant Record information will not be updated until you enroll in classes. If the scholarships you are applying for do not require a UIC GPA or completed credit hours, our scholarship administrators will ensure that they get the information provided in the applicant record. Once you have enrolled and classes have begun, if your record doesn’t get updated, please inquire with snaphelp@uic.edu.
  2. Read each question in its entirety. Some questions may not be applicable to all students.
  3. If you need to save your work and return to your application at a later time, click “Save and Keep Editing.” Once you are ready to complete your application, click “Finish and Continue.”
  4. If you need to update your application prior to the application deadline, you may do so by logging back into UIC SnAP, making the necessary corrections, and clicking “Finish and Continue.
  5. If you have information to add to your General Application responses after having completed the questions early in the academic year, please UPDATE it as you apply for new awards.
